OVERVIEW: This is a general summary of the responsibilities associated with the position of Attending Veterinarian/Clinical Veterinarian II. This description is not inclusive of all duties required to successfully complete the job each day. Employees are expected to complete all assigned duties each day.
DUTY HOURS & LOCATION ASSIGNMENT:
Employees are expected to arrive to work at the time and location specified for the position to which they are assigned. Work hours typically occur between 7:30am and 4:00pm M-F, and include coverage outside of core hours when required. These assignments will include working on weekends and holidays on a rotational basis. Weekend/Holiday hours range from 7:30am – 12:30pm. Duty hours and location assignments may be modified at the discretion of the Program Management Staff or at the request of the client with or without prior notice.
This position is designated as “essential personnel” requiring attendance during emergency situations, such as inclement weather, mechanical/facility failures or other scheduled or unscheduled institutional closures as directed by Program or client management.
This position will support multiple worksites in the Hampton Roads areas to include locations Norfolk, and Newport News, VA, and any other locations as designated or required by the client or SoBran. Some travel will be associated with this position, this will be determined as needs arise.
DESCRIPTION of DUTIES:
The Clinical Veterinarian II ensures compliance with all applicable regulations, policies, guidelines, and standard operating procedures. They participate in and direct the application of veterinary care and medical oversight for the animal colony and multiple sites to include preventative medicine, health surveillance, medical treatment, research support, anesthesia, survival and non-survival surgical manipulations, the use of biological, radiological and chemical hazards and animal transfers within and between institutions. This position includes Attending Veterinarian duties with 2 different contracts, as well as alternate AV duties at another contract.
This person is expected to be familiar with the day-to-day activities, personnel and issues within the facilities. We expect the Clinical Veterinarian will be forward thinking and create and assist in developing plans to enhance the learning abilities and performance of the staff working on these contracts. The CV will work closely with the Project/Program Manager and/or Facility Manager(s) and maintain a relationship with all staff.

3-6 years of experience as a Clinical Veterinarian in the Laboratory Animal field working with multiple species including non-human primates, swine, and rodents.
