Job Description

Cornell University Veterinary Specialists (CUVS) is a specialty and emergency veterinary center located in Stamford, CT. As a subsidiary of Cornell University, CUVS is a mission-driven hospital that redefines the delivery of specialty care by bringing together the best of private practice with the best of academia to benefit pets, owners, and the profession.

CUVS boasts a comprehensive group of specialties, including Emergency & Critical Care, Internal Medicine, Surgery, Oncology, Ophthalmology, Cardiology, Anesthesiology, and Dentistry, Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery. Our services work collaboratively and cohesively to provide unparalleled care.

Our ethos is simple: you cannot have the best medicine without the best people. We are dedicated to hiring excellent people, who share our core values, and proactively helping them to grow their careers and to develop to their fullest potential.

We are looking for a full-time Anesthesia & Surgery Coordinator to join our team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in veterinary specialty medicine, a dedication to excellent patient care, a quest for professional development, and an appreciation for working as part of a strong team within an excellent culture.

What You’ll Do:

As the Anesthesia & Surgery Coordinator you will oversee the daily coordination of anesthesia services across multiple specialty departments. Acting as the central hub for anesthesia-related communications you will collaborate with Surgery, Dentistry, Ophthalmology, Imaging, Emergency & Critical Care, and more.

In this role, you will work closely with a board-certified anesthesiologist, specialists and credentialed technicians, including veterinary technician specialists to ensure smooth operations, efficient communication and continuity of peri-operative care across departments.

You’ll play a key role in modeling clinical and service excellence throughout the surgical process - from case scheduling to patient recovery while serving as a trusted ambassador of CUVS’s professional standards, collaborative culture and commitment to exceptional patient care.

How You Will Achieve It:

  • Coordinating daily anesthesia schedules and case assignments across specialties
  • Managing real-time OR and staffing logistics
  • Serving as the go-to liaison for anesthesia-related communication and logistics
  • Monitoring equipment, maintaining supplies, and ensuring proper charge capture
  • Facilitating interdepartmental collaboration for smooth post-op transitions

What We’re Looking For:

Required skills:

  • Previous leadership or coordinator experience
  • Minimum 3 years in a specialty or emergency hospital
  • Strong leadership, communication, and organizational skills

Preferred skills:

  • Credentialed Veterinary Technician (or equivalent anesthesia/surgery experience)
  • Advanced training or VTS in anesthesia
  • Experience with hospital scheduling systems and EMRs

Individuals with a passion for their work, a strong sense of collaboration and teamwork, and an appreciation for diversity are strongly encouraged to apply.
