Visiting Vet (www.visitingvetcal.com), a well-established, unique veterinary practice located in the Solano County and Napa Valley area invites inquiries and applications for a new veterinary opportunity. This two to three day a week position is ideal for the veterinarian seeking a chance to balance the right mix of work life with a flexible schedule. Visiting Vet practice was established in 1993 by Dr. Sybil Murray, a 1983 graduate of UC Davis School of Veterinary Medicine. It affords the veterinarian the opportunity to see animals (mostly dogs and cats, occasionally birds or other pets) in their home environment and observe family/pet interaction while establishing and maintaining long-term relationships with families and their pets. The position is perfect for the veterinarian who wants diversity in their work and life. It also provides the experienced veterinarian the opportunity to escape the 6-12 pets an hour grind of larger, often corporate, clinics and hospitals. The practice is located in the Napa Valley and Solano County area. Wine country is nearby and the practice is an equal distance from San Francisco and Sacramento. Lake Tahoe is an easy drive for winter fun and summer boating activities. Responsibility Visiting Vet spends approximately one hour with each family and their pets. During that time rapport is established with the owner and the pet while history and description of current problems are taken. Following the pet examination, owners receive counseling on how to care for and treat their pet’s condition. In many cases behavioral counseling is offered as well. Additional Responsibilities ? Go into the homes of clients accompanied by a vet assistant to examine pets, provide wellness care, diagnostics, palliation, or euthanasia. ? Examine the pet’s relationship to the owner, and the pet’s ability to navigate their own territory by seeing them in their home environment. ? Enter records into Vetter (cloud based software), prescribe appropriate medication (provided or scripted out) and direct the vet assistant to perform their duties as appropriate. ? Develop rapport with clients and Visiting Vet. Qualifications: DVM or equivalent degree Licensed to practice in California Ability to work without constant oversight Ability to maintain friendly relationships with owners. Benefits ? Annual salary is based on $20,000 for one day a week (equivalent of $100,000/year for a 5-day work week). An increased schedule is possible and salary will be prorated based on $20,000 a year for each day worked. ? In addition to salary, the Veterinarian will receive a bonus based on their gross billings. ? Five paid days off per year. More days off are provided at the veterinarian’s expense (often covered by the bonus). ? One continuing education conference fee paid each year. ? Flexible schedule. The veterinarian determines the days they want to work and their hours. Appointments currently are 10:30 AM to 5:30 PM with 3 to 4 appointments a day ? Mentoring from Dr. Sybil Murray who has over 27 years of experience in making house calls and credentials in palliative care, pet hospice, and the art of home euthanasia.
