Meet The Team at Eastside Animal Hospital

Learn about the hard working people that make Eastside the best veterinary practice in the Upstate!
Meet Our Head Veterinarian - Dr. Dawkins!
Dr. David Dawkins is a Greenville, SC native who received his Bachelors of Science, Masters degree and Doctorate of Veterinary Medicine from the University of Georgia. Dr. Dawkins welcomes all aspects of veterinary medicine and has a heightened interest in surgery, dentistry, neurology, and preventive medicine. His goal is to provide the highest level of care possible for his patients while giving a great value to our clients. For his colleagues, he welcomes teamwork and is dedicated to providing guidance and transparency to the highest level possible. He encourages you to ask questions and take ownership. When not at the office Dr. Dawkins can be found at home in the kitchen or garden, with his wife and two daughters. Pet family includes 1 dog, 2 cats, 3 chickens, 2 ducks, and 7 feral geese! A true dawg he says his philosophy is wisdom, justice, and moderation.
Meet Our Associate Veterinarian - Dr. Balinsk!
Dr. Dave Balinsky, one of our associate veterinarians, and the newest addition to our team, was drawn to vet school by an unusual motivation. “I was pursuing knowledge,” he says. Fascinated by the mechanics of how life works, the school gave him a deep understanding of anatomy and physiology, form, and function. David is a native of the Chesapeake Bay area, born and raised in Maryland where he completed his undergraduate degree at the University of Maryland. Chasing the dream of medicine led him away from home. After graduating from the University of Georgia’s College of Veterinary Medicine, he started working for a rural mixed animal practice outside of Athens Georgia. Here at Eastside, Dr. Dave is grateful for the opportunity to work within a locally owned business to offer high quality, reasonably priced medicine. “I feel that we are an integral part of this small community of Spartanburg. What we do matter.” At work you can find him explaining diagnostic results to families, teaching puppies to sit, and cutting out cardboard boxes for his hospitalized feline patients so they feel safer. Outside of work David loves to travel, see new places, visit with friends and family, or spend time in nature. He also often volunteers his time working with wildlife and endangered species. Dr. Dave wholeheartedly believes in a fit for service mentality that includes a low-stress healthy lifestyle of good food, regular exercise, and plenty of rest.
Meet Our Associate Veterinarian - Dr. Buff!
Dr. Adam Buff, DVM was born and raised in Spartanburg, SC. He is a non-traditional student and does not have a degree outside of his DVM. He did, however get his vet school pre-reqs at Spartanburg Community College and USC Upstate. His mother has always been a ``collector`` of animals since childhood. He has always been exposed in very high numbers to animals. He also enjoys medicine a lot. Adam began working in vet-med in 2010. He knew he was in the right profession in 2013 when he started as a technician. He has recently went on to continue his education about Addison's Disease. Within a week of the CE he saw a patient that came into the office with classic signs of the disease that he had just learned about and was able to assist the doctors with the diagnosis and treatment and it was amazing to put knowledge to work. Adam is passionate about endocrinology, nutrition and feline lower urinary tract health specifically. Endocrinology has always been a passion of his because they are often diseases that pose a diagnostic challenge and can be very rewarding to treat and make significant improvements in an animals quality of life. He has a wonderful wife of 7 years, a 7 year old daughter and a 9 month old son. He enjoys going to Atlanta Braves games and has an incredible passion for sports cars.
Our front office staff!
We simply couldn't function without our receptionists, office staff and practice manager! These women are the lifeblood of our practice and make sure everything stays in order.
Our veterinarian technicians!
Our veterinarians may be very skilled, but there's simply no way we could do it without our veterinarian technicians. From assisting with surgery, laboratory procedures, radiography, anesthesiology, to treatment and nursing, and help educating our clients on best care practices, we're a team above all.

“Eastside Animal Hospital is amazing. All the staff are incredibly nice people. The service was absolutely fabulous. They figured out what was wrong with our little girl and got her on the path to recovery right away. Thank you everyone at Eastside for taking such great care of us.“

– Paul C.

“I had a late in the day health scare with my cat. They worked us in when they could have, justifiably, had us go to the emergency vet over in Greenville. The staff was caring and compassionate even though they were clearly feeling a little overwhelmed. I could not be happier”!
– Alex H.

“The most compassionate and caring veterinarian staff I’ve ever met. Of the several places I’ve taken my pets to over the past 50+ years this is one of two I would highly recommend”!
– Terri C.

“Thank you for being the only vet’s office on the Eastside that would see a cat I found hit on the highway this morning! They not only treated her but helped track down the owner by microchip. Thank you for your compassion and kindness”.
– Robin J.

“Always very professional and helpful”.
– Deb M.

“Always Courteous and Professional top notch service as always”.
– Merwin S.

“The staff is very professional and Dr. Adam Bluff was very good with my pet. He received the best care. His procedures and treatment were explained with clarity. I recommend Dr Adam Bluff.”
– Renee G.

“They’re the best! They are so patient and hands on. They listen to your concerns and are very knowledgeable”
– Amanda G.

“I have been taking my “fur babies” here, since I arrived in 2014. They are wonderful with my pets. Dr. Dawson helped save our “Coconut” – when we were certain she was beyond help. And, with surgery, Dr. Lanier extended the life of my funny boy Slyszeks another two years. I will always take my babies here.”
-Rena J.

“We had two birds (doves) that had an outdoor enclosure. Something attacked them through the cage somehow (we haven’t figured that out). One died, I assume from fright or it panicked and broke its neck, the other one survived but was injured pretty bad. We called all around Greenville and no vet would see the bird. We were finally referred to this place and they said they could give it a look but it was an hour’s drive away. When we got there the staff was nice but the place was super busy so there was a long wait. They couldn’t do anything so late in the day but gave the bird some pain meds and told us to bring it back in the morning and they could try to sew up its wounds. We did and the bird made it through the surgery great and was very active even after such trauma. We drove all the way back home when we got there we gave it the medicine the doctor gave us and a few minutes later the bird died. It choked on its medicine. It is a very sad, expensive, and unfortunate outcome, my wife and kid lost it crying, but we appreciate this vet clinic for doing what they could to help us. Good people. Thank you.”
-Kenneth

“Patient and gentle with our injured dog! Vet care is expensive in general, but I found their prices to be more reasonable than some others I’ve been to. Saw beyond the presenting problem to discover an underlying issue of arthritis and a torn ligament. Thank you for your loving care!”
– Allison W.

“We live all the Vets and staff. They truly love their patients and take great care of our fur babies. ❤️. We wouldn’t let anyone else take care of our Bully babies.”
– Brenda T.

“DR. King did an amazing job with our 4 little kittens, she was so sweet and kind to them. Will recommend to every pet owner!”
– Violetta M.

“Spectacular staff, service, knowledge and experience! My boyfriend and I rescued a kitten in horrific condition, the staff took amazing care of him. He had to get one of his eyes removed, almost a year later when we take him in for a visit all of the staff will come into the room to see him. I could not recommend them enough!”
– Maddi W.

“Excellent care of and so much compassion for the pets and the people! Wonderful, Awesome staff!”
– Susan D.

“Awesome place to bring your pets. Dr. and staff were all wonderful! They treat your pets as you would, like the babies they are. So sweet to you as the pet owner and just awesome and gentle with your pet.“

– Sue S.
