Position Summary
The Choudhury lab has a research position available to assist with the studies on cellular, molecular and metabolic processes involved in the development of fibrotic disorders such as idiopathic pulmonary fibrosis (IPF).
We are currently exploring how metabolic networks may provide disease- and context-specific targets for selective interruption of pathological, cellular functions and how these metabolic adaptations in turn may be targeted therapeutically for IPF. Experimental approaches employed in our lab involve cell signaling and metabolism, metabolomics, mitochondrial biology, molecular/cellular biology, genetically modified mice, lung fibrosis models, isolation and culture of primary lung fibroblasts, single cell RNA-seq and epigenetics.
Performs independently complex research studies, experiments and assays, including animal husbandry, tissue extractions, and isolation of cells from lung in coordination with the post-doc.
Job Description
Primary Duties & Responsibilities:
Performs complex analysis/projects according to research protocols, explaining methods and procedures to other technicians.
Enters data and maintains current data files on research projects. Monitors data to ensure consistent quality.
May perform preliminary statistical analysis of data.
Assures compliance with established safety procedures and maintains required documentation on laboratory and specimen conditions.
Ensures lab conditions and equipment are properly cleaned and maintained in accordance with established procedures.
Assists in the training and development of technicians, acting as a group leader.
Performs other duties as assigned.
Working Conditions:
Works in a laboratory environment with potential exposure to biological and chemical hazards.
Must be physically able to wear protective equipment and to provide standard care to research animals.
